Why the Name Valora Alyx?

I am sure so many of you are going to ask, “how the hell did you come up with the name Valora Alyx?” Some of my friends already have. It is actually kind of a funny story, a funny story but the name is so fitting.

First off let me state that I am HUGE Star Wars fan, live and breath that stuff. My entire apartment is decorated littered with Star Wars décor and collectibles. A couple years ago I had downloaded a Star Wars game, Galaxy of Heroes, and I needed a name for my avatar, or toon, whatever your preference. I couldn’t think of a damn thing. I’m not clever at shit like that. So I searched online for a Jedi name generator, this is where you are probably laughing right now, and that’s okay because I was too!

So I fired up this online generator on my iPhone. I looked I checked the box for female and then “generate name.” A name popped up, no that’s not the one, I clicked generate name again because I did not like what it had generated for me. Then another, and another, and another…..shit I bet I went through three dozen names until BAM! There it was!

VALORA ALYX was born. Valora is a play on valor, valor meaning bravery and boldness in the face of great danger. Alyx, is a play on the Greek name Alexander, Alexander the Great who once stated, “there is nothing impossible to him who will try.” Those who know me know me well enough to know that Alexander the Great is my absolute favorite historical figure. He did great things, things thought to be impossible for his time. I am now doing something I thought would be impossible for me, to tell my story, to never live in fear again…

Just like Alexander the Great, I am BRAVE, DARING, DETERMINED, AMBITIOUS, BOLD…

“Through every generation of the human race there has been a constant war, a war with fear. Those who have the courage to conquer it are made free and those who are conquered by it are made to suffer until they have the courage to defeat it, or death takes them.” Alexander The Great
